The Soundtrack of Possibility

Music has a way of bringing moments back to life. A song can transport you to a specific place, a specific person, or a specific season of your life faster than almost anything else. Long after details fade, the right song can make them feel close again.
But for me, music isn't just about memory.
It's about possibility.
One of the places that has had the biggest impact on me in recent years is Coachella. I've been fortunate enough to experience it with family and friends, and every time I leave feeling the same thing: energized by discovery. New artists. New ideas. New experiences. It's a reminder that curiosity doesn't belong to the young.
Neither does discovery.
That's part of what I love about seeing newer bands in smaller venues. Walking into a place like The Van Buren before a band outgrows the room feels less like attending a concert and more like finding something. It keeps you engaged with what's next instead of only revisiting what came before.
Music has also helped me understand things that are difficult to put into words.
For me, few bands have done that better than The National. Their lyrics seem to capture the emotions, contradictions, and complexities that come with getting older. They remind me that life doesn't become simpler with time, it becomes richer, more layered, and sometimes harder to explain.
Then there is the opposite side of music.
The feeling of possibility.
Listening to Fred Again.. often feels like standing at the beginning of a great night. The sense that anything could happen next. The best conversation, the best memory, or the best experience of the evening might still be ahead of you.
That feeling may be my favorite thing music gives us.
And it's one of the reasons Herschede looks, feels, and sounds the way it does.
When people walk into the store, I want them to experience more than clothing. Music, scent, lighting, art, conversation, and style all work together to create a feeling. The best experiences engage more than one sense. They create memories. They spark ideas. They make us feel something.
A great song can change your mood.
And a great experience can stay with you long after it's over.
That's why music remains such an important part of my life. It helps me remember where I've been, appreciate where I am, and stay excited about what's next.
Because no matter your age, there is always another great song waiting to be discovered.
