The Beauty is in the Layers

One of my favorite pieces of art in the store is also one of the hardest to explain.
At first glance it is a lot.
Color. Words. Images. Energy coming from every direction.
But the longer you look, the more you see.
Isn’t that true of most things worth caring about?
I have always believed the best things in life have layers. People. Music. Art. Style.
What catches your eye first may get your attention, but what you discover over time is what creates the connection.
The same idea applies to personal style.
Great personal style is rarely about one perfect item or following a specific set of rules. It comes from the combination of choices, experiences, and influences that make something feel like your own.
The places you have been. The people you have met. The things you have collected along the way.
They all leave a mark.
Those little choices say something.
They add personality.
They add depth.
They add another layer.
That is what I love about clothing.
It gives us another way to show who we are.
Herschede was built with that same belief.
Yes, we are a men’s clothing store in Phoenix. But the clothes have always been only part of what I wanted to create.
The music playing. The art on the walls. The conversations. The people.
Every piece adds another layer.
And those layers are what turn a space into something more.
Because the best things in life usually have more than one layer.
The connection is visceral. You feel it before you can explain it.
