How Do You Carry Yourself

Every brand we bring into Herschede has to feel right. Bleu de Chauffe did.
The designs immediately caught my attention. They felt authentic. The materials felt intentional. The entire collection carried a quiet confidence and seemed to say, “I know who I am.”
Then I learned something that sealed it for me.
Every Bleu de Chauffe bag is crafted from start to finish by a single artisan in France. When it’s finished, that artisan signs and dates the inside of the bag before it leaves the workshop. In a world of production lines, that’s a detail that mattered to me. It tells you someone took ownership of what they created.
It’s the same reason I enjoy knowing who made a great meal, who painted a piece of art, or who wrote a favorite song. There’s something different about work that carries the fingerprints of the person behind it.
I also appreciate that these bags are meant to be used.
The leather develops a rich patina. The canvas softens. The hardware picks up character. The signs of everyday life don’t diminish the bag. The places it travels, the miles it covers, and the life it shares with its owner become part of what makes it beautiful.
I don’t think we’re in the business of collecting brands. I think we’re in the business of finding things worth living with.
The things we surround ourselves with should have that same quiet confidence. The best things don’t try to be everything to everyone. They know exactly what they are.
Bleu de Chauffe does.
